Wanna frame your awesome pics for super cheap?
Thrifting is one of my favorite hobbies-good for the environment, good for your wallet. Today’s project involved framing some of my many, many, many (did I say many?) photographs. I started out with some $1.99 picture frames (picture 1) from the thrift store and got a roll of drawer liner paper there as well (picture 2), also just $1.99.
This project is super simple as the drawer liner paper already has a sticky side. Just take the cardboard back from the frame and place the drawer lining paper on the side that will be facing forward in the frame (picture 3). You can also use wrapping paper, just use a glue stick to adhere the paper to the front of the mat. Use an X-acto knife to trim the edges (picture 4) and voila, you have the perfectly matted picture frame of your dreams. To customize it even further, spray paint your mismatched frames for a cohesive look.
You can change the mat in the frame any time you want, just put the next layer of paper right over the old one or carefully peel off the drawer liner paper. It’s as easy at that!
Tip: If your pictures don’t stay in place in the frame, use a small piece of tape doubled over or a small piece of clear museum putty (available on Amazon.com) on the back of the pic to keep it from sliding down when you hang it.
Also unfortunately on back order (until MARCH!!!), from West Elm, this beautiful Manzanita Candelabra. A little pricey at $99.00, it’s worth it’s design weight in gold…or silver that is! Beautiful to display all year round, this is another investment piece I think is worth the price. Don’t worry, you can always save money in the rest of the room with your upcycled thrift finds!
Mounting a real deer head on my wall is simply not an option at this point, but this super elegant 15.75” white resin replica from Z Gallerie will definitely work! The bigger one has a weird-looking face, so I opted to get the smaller one instead. Get the look of updated cabin chic for only $49.95! (plus shipping and handling) Also available in a larger size and in rhino, ram, gazelle, horse and moose.
I will be doing a series of my wishlist home items and I’m sorry to all my animal-rights followers, but I need these gorgeous Mongolian Lamb Pillow covers (pillow inserts sold separately) from West Elm in the pebble color (the one on the far right at the bottom.) I felt a similar pillow at Pier 1 and to say this is probably the softest thing I have ever felt would not be an exaggeration…at $54 a pop for the smallest size, they are definitely a luxury purchase, but it’s one I would argue is totally worth it!
There’s a chill in the air. The leaves are turning beautiful shades of red, orange and brown; and it’s time to update your home fragrances for fall! Fall is my favorite season, I was actually excited to pack away my summer clothes in favor of soft, comfy sweaters and knee-high boots (coupled with this season’s tights resurgence of course.) My other favorite parts of fall are the delicous home scents. Inspired by our favorite fall memories: warm apple cider, sugar cookies, fall leaves, and cinnamon and clove…it takes us back to being in the kitchen with our moms and grandmas and to creating those new memories with our own kids.
Piggybacking on Beautylish’s Fall Fragrance post, I also had to share this beautiful Fall Mosaic candle shade from Yankee Candle available at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I don’t know why I haven’t seen more of these, but it’s a brilliant idea to further accessorize a home accessory. And of course I had to mention the adorbs Bath and Body Works Novelty Fall Wallflowers, discovered on the Beautylish post. Cream foxes, metallic brown owls, silver leaves (they’re all in my cart BTW) I’m getting them in Warm Vanilla Sugar, Cinnamon and Clove Buds and Sensual Amber. I can’t wait to find a very visible plug to display these in!
Enjoy those evenings snuggled by the fire with these fall fragrance accessories as delicious as the scents themselves!
